I think everyone on my flist has probably been tagged, so I’ll leave that part out. But I’ll do the list, because Cat is cool.
Oh, and this may be incoherent at times. This is what I get for staying up to catch up on stuff instead of sleeping. But it's worth it! :)
1. “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me”- Billy Joel. I have a moderately large Billy Joel obsession, and I just adore this song. This and “We Didn’t Start the Fire” are my favorites of his, but this one has been the one on repeat lately. I switch off.
2. “Love Like This”-Natasha Bedingfield ft. Sean Kingston. It’s just such a fun, fun song. I get it in my head and it doesn’t leave for days. Luckily I’ve been hearing it less and less on the radio. Though I just got Now 27, so I can listen to it whenever I want. Oh, and I love the ‘best friends become something more’ theme. A lot.
3. “Definitely Maybe”-FM Static I believe. Someone did a fantastic Dasey video to it and I can’t get the song out of my head. It’s sad that every song I hear now has to pass the Dasey test- can it work for them? My mind is so warped by Daseyism.
4. “Makes Me Happy”-Drake
5. “Love Song.”-Sara Bareilles. I just…guh. This song amazes me. I still laugh every time I hear it, because of the whole ‘it’s really about the record company, not a guy’ thing. I just love that. The song could be crap, and that would still amuse me. It’s very D&J in its sneaky subtlety.
6. “Into the Night”-Santana ft.
7. “Jack and Diane”-John (Cougar) Mellencamp. I have no idea why I love this song so much, but it’s on practically every mix CD I make lately. I tend to love songs that are stories (hence the fact that most of my CDs are show tunes: Rent, Hairspray, Spring Awakening, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, etc.) This story is pretty darn sad, but it’s funny, too. I like the whole “backseat debutante” thing (the song is so DIRTY) and how we really aren’t sure exactly what happens to destroy them, but it’s probably a pregnancy, which is just awful, because don’t they have a family that can help them out, and then Jack can still be a football star? Oh, and the gender politics are ridiculous- Jack wants to go off and make money, while all Diane’s good for is taking off her Bobby Brooks behind a shady tree. Jack is such a chauvinist. And they’re 16! 16! Crazy, crazy song. I could listen to it on constant repeat, though.
And that would be it. Happy Listening!
